Maldives Police Service has seized a substantial amount of alcoholic beverages from a safari boat stationed outside Gahdhoo Island in Gaafu Dhaal Atoll. Acting on a tip-off, the Drug Narcotics Intelligence and Gahdhoo Police Station conducted a joint operation, resulting in the discovery of 1,224 cans of beer and 124 bottles of liquor on board the vessel.
According to authorities, the Drug Narcotics Intelligence unit received information indicating that alcohol was being illegally possessed and trafficked on the safari. During the raid, officers successfully confiscated the illicit beverages, which have now been secured in police custody.
Two individuals connected to the incident were initially taken into custody for questioning but were later released. Maldives Police have confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing, with further efforts underway to determine the scope of the illegal activity.
