Marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the interconnected nature of human rights and the importance of collective action in safeguarding freedoms. His statement, shared on Human Rights Day, highlights the Maldives’ dedication to fostering a society built on dignity, equality, and justice.
In his message, President Muizzu reiterated that protecting the rights of others is integral to preserving one’s own freedoms, aligning with the core principles of the UDHR. He affirmed the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to creating a peaceful and inclusive society through policies tailored to the unique geography of the island nation.
The President also outlined key areas of focus for his administration, including equitable access to healthcare, education, and justice. He highlighted the government’s dedication to upholding press freedom, workers’ rights, and gender equality while ensuring environmental sustainability for future generations.
