President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Estonian President Dr. Alar Karis during his official visit to Estonia, marking the first time a Maldivian Head of State has visited the country.
During the meeting, President Karis expressed gratitude for President Muizzu’s acceptance of the invitation and extended a warm welcome to the Maldivian delegation. In response, President Muizzu thanked President Karis and the Estonian people for their hospitality and warm reception.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring collaboration in key areas, including tourism, education, and climate change. President Muizzu also emphasized his interest in knowledge-sharing related to cybersecurity and digital innovation, highlighting Estonia’s global leadership in e-governance and digital services.
The Maldivian President praised Estonia’s advancements in renewable energy, smart grids, and sustainable technology, citing them as valuable models for the Maldives’ own efforts in environmental resilience and digital transformation.
The two leaders also exchanged views on international security and reiterated their commitment to cooperate on shared priorities in multilateral forums.
The meeting concluded with both Presidents expressing confidence in strengthening ties between the Maldives and Estonia, laying the groundwork for deeper partnerships in the future.
