Vice President His Excellency Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has returned to Malé following his official visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he attended the World Governments Summit 2025.
During his visit, the Vice President took part in several key sessions, including the opening plenary session and the Global Government Excellence Award. He also actively engaged in the Government Experience Exchange Forum and the Climate Change Forum, both held on the sidelines of the summit.

He highlighted that climate disasters do not wait for political negotiations, intensifying storms do not align with economic cycles, and rising temperatures do not recognize borders—a message reinforcing the Maldives’ commitment to climate resilience on the international stage.
The forum was also attended by Her Excellency Amna Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE, and His Excellency Max Andonirina Fontaine, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Madagascar, reflecting the global collaboration needed to tackle environmental challenges.
The Vice President’s participation in the summit underscores the Maldives’ engagement in strengthening governance practices, exchanging expertise, and fostering international cooperation on key policy matters. The World Governments Summit 2025 served as a vital platform for discussing global governance trends, sustainable development, and climate change adaptation.
Accompanied by a senior government delegation, the Vice President’s visit reinforced the Maldives’ commitment to innovative governance and sustainable policies, ensuring the country remains at the forefront of climate advocacy and policy discussions on the global stage.
