Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, has concluded his official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he represented the Maldives at the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the high-level gathering, Dr. Khaleel delivered a strong statement reaffirming the Maldives’ unwavering support for the Palestinian people in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression. His address emphasized the urgent need for international solidarity and diplomatic action to protect Palestinian rights and ensure humanitarian assistance reaches those affected.
The Extraordinary CFM Session, convened by the OIC in Saudi Arabia, brought together foreign ministers from across the Islamic world to discuss the escalating crisis in Palestine and explore collective measures to address the situation.
The Maldivian government has consistently voiced support for Palestine on international platforms, calling for an immediate end to hostilities and advocating for a two-state solution in line with UN resolutions and OIC principles.
Minister Khaleel’s participation in the session highlights the Maldives’ active engagement in regional diplomacy and its commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people on the global stage.
