Fenaka Sends New 1.8 MW Generator to Addu Amid Ongoing Power Outages

Fenaka Corporation has dispatched a new 1.8 MW generator to Addu City as part of ongoing efforts to resolve persistent power outages affecting the city and its neighboring islands.

The latest shipment marks the third generator sent to Addu in just three months. In a recent update shared on its official X account, Fenaka highlighted the urgency of the situation, revealing that another genset was delivered just days ago in an attempt to stabilize the city’s electricity supply.

Addu’s power crisis has been exacerbated by damage to the generators at the city’s central power station, which has struggled to meet the demand for electricity over the past few months. The power station’s inability to handle the required load has led to frequent disruptions in service. In response to this, Fenaka had already installed a 1.8 MW generator in the city last month to alleviate the issue.

To further address the problem, the Maldivian government has expedited the construction of a 32 MW power plant in Addu, a project that had previously faced delays. The new power station is expected to significantly enhance the city’s energy infrastructure and provide a long-term solution to the recurring power shortages.

As the efforts to improve the situation continue, the delivery of additional generators underscores the urgency of stabilizing Addu’s electricity supply and minimizing the impact on residents and businesses.
