President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the award ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Jamiyyathul Falah’s Quran competition on Saturday evening at the Islamic Centre in Malé. The event celebrated a half-century of the nation’s longest-running Quran competition, a cornerstone of religious education in the Maldives.

Established as a pillar of Quranic education, Jamiyyathul Falah has played a pivotal role in nurturing generations of young Maldivians in religious scholarship. Alongside organising the annual Quran competition, the organisation also manages Falah Preschool and Falah Quran Classes—further strengthening its contributions to early childhood and Islamic education.

In his remarks, President Muizzu reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to elevating Quranic learning across the nation. He highlighted recent initiatives, including the decision to double the monthly allowance for Huffaz (those who have memorised the Quran) in July, and ongoing efforts to construct waqf (endowment) buildings. These developments are intended to provide sustainable funding for the future of Quranic education in the country.

The event underscored the government’s broader vision to preserve and promote Islamic values and teachings as a fundamental part of national development.
