WAMCO Adjusts Waste Collection Hours for Independence Day Celebrations

The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has announced a temporary revision to its household waste collection schedule for today, July 27, to accommodate events marking the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day.

In a public notice issued earlier today, the corporation stated that residential waste collection will take place between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., deviating from the usual hours. The change has been implemented to allow for smoother logistics amid the ongoing national celebrations.

WAMCO extended apologies for any inconvenience caused by the revised timing and expressed gratitude to residents for their understanding and continued cooperation during the special occasion.

The adjustment comes as part of broader logistical preparations in the capital and across the country, where parades, cultural performances, and community events are being held to commemorate six decades of Maldivian independence.
