MACL Gears Up for Peak Travel Season with Winter Readiness 2025/2026 Kickoff

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched preparations for the upcoming peak travel period with the Winter Readiness 2025/2026 Kickoff Meeting, held to align operations and ensure a seamless experience for travelers during the busiest months of the year.

The session brought together key executives and department heads to assess potential operational challenges, outline strategic solutions, and enhance coordination across departments. The discussions focused on ensuring Velana International Airport (VIA) maintains efficient and uninterrupted service amid the anticipated surge in passenger and flight traffic.

Speaking at the event, Chief Commercial Officer Mohamed Mihad highlighted the importance of readiness and collaboration, describing the meeting as one of the most critical in MACL’s annual calendar. He underscored the company’s role as a vital service provider in the country’s tourism-driven economy, stressing that maintaining high service standards requires teamwork, foresight, and optimal use of resources.

Mihad urged all teams to deliver exceptional service that meets — and exceeds — customer expectations throughout the winter and New Year period. He also called for a proactive approach across all units to ensure the company is fully equipped to handle the seasonal influx.

The winter season remains the busiest period for Velana International Airport, with over 7,500 flights operated during the same period last year. This year’s preparations are further bolstered by the airport’s newly inaugurated Terminal 1, which is expected to significantly ease passenger handling and contribute to the national goal of 2.3 million tourist arrivals in 2025.
