President and First Lady Travel to R. Dhuvaafaru for Fishermen’s Day and Project Inaugurations

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed this morning for a one-day official visit to Raa Dhuvaafaru, where they are scheduled to inaugurate new development projects and attend ceremonies marking the completion of several initiatives on the island.

The visit coincides with this year’s extended Fishermen’s Day celebrations, with Dhuvaafaru hosting the Masveringe Gunzaru and a full day of activities dedicated to honouring the nation’s fishing community. A number of events related to the occasion are planned to take place throughout the day.

President Muizzu is expected to participate in a series of Fishermen’s Day programmes, including the official commemorative ceremony set for this evening. Government officials say the visit underscores the administration’s commitment to supporting the fisheries sector — a foundational pillar of the Maldivian economy and identity.

The President and First Lady were warmly welcomed upon arrival by the community of Dhuvaafaru. They are accompanied on the visit by several Cabinet Ministers and senior representatives from key government agencies.
