Fenaka Starts Air-Conditioning Work Under Cool School Project

Implementation of the government’s Cool School project has officially begun, with air-conditioning installation works now underway in schools across the Greater Malé Region, Fenaka Corporation has confirmed.

The initiative is aimed at tackling long-standing concerns over high classroom temperatures, which have affected both students and teachers during school hours. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education under the direction of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, with Fenaka Corporation tasked with carrying out installations nationwide.

Fenaka said the Cool School project will ultimately see air-conditioning systems installed in all schools across the Maldives, marking a significant upgrade to learning environments. As part of the initial rollout, work has begun in schools within the Greater Malé Region.

According to the corporation, indoor air-conditioning units have already been installed in around 75 percent of schools in the Malé area, with installation teams continuing work at remaining locations.

Fenaka added that efforts are focused on completing installations in all Greater Malé schools before the start of the upcoming academic year, ensuring classrooms are better equipped ahead of students’ return.

Officials say the project reflects the government’s broader push to improve school infrastructure and learning conditions, with the Cool School initiative expected to create a more comfortable and productive environment for teaching and learning nationwide.
