MMA Launches Dedicated Hotline for Favara Payment System Complaints

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has introduced a new hotline aimed at handling complaints related to the country’s instant payment platform, Favara, as part of efforts to improve customer support and service reliability.

The hotline, 1544, was officially launched at a ceremony inaugurated by MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar. The service will be operated by Payments Maldives Private Limited, a subsidiary of the central bank.

According to MMA, the newly introduced hotline is specifically designed to address issues related to payment services, including transaction-related concerns. The move is expected to provide a more streamlined channel for resolving user complaints associated with Favara.

The authority clarified that its existing hotline, 1444, which handles general financial service complaints, will continue to operate as usual alongside the new service.

MMA said the introduction of a dedicated line reflects ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency within the financial system and ensure quicker resolution of payment-related issues.

Officials added that improving access to customer support services is expected to strengthen public confidence in the Maldives’ digital banking infrastructure, particularly as the use of instant payment systems continues to expand.
