Ukulhas Welcomes President Muizzu for Global Audit Summit

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed arrived in AA. Ukulhas on Tuesday to attend two major international events focusing on public sector auditing and governance, while also reviewing government development initiatives on the island.

The Presidential couple received a ceremonial welcome upon their arrival, with a large gathering of residents assembling at the harbour to greet them. A red-carpet reception was also held to mark the official visit.

According to the President’s Office, the visit centres on the closing ceremony of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) Symposium and the opening of the IDI Global Summit, both of which have brought together auditing professionals and institutional leaders from around the world.

President Muizzu and the First Lady are accompanied by several Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament and senior government officials during the visit.

In addition to participating in the international events, the President is scheduled to inspect the progress of government development projects currently underway in Ukulhas.

He is also expected to officially launch work on several new development initiatives during the visit, reflecting the administration’s continued focus on infrastructure and public service improvements across the islands.

The SAI Symposium provides a platform for Supreme Audit Institutions from Small Island Developing States to exchange experiences and discuss ways to strengthen public accountability, transparency and oversight. Meanwhile, the IDI Global Summit, organised by the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), brings together audit leaders and development partners to explore ways of enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of national audit institutions.

The Maldives has increasingly hosted international governance and public sector events in recent years as part of efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation and showcase its engagement in global policy discussions.
