The government has officially launched the My Career Portal, a new digital platform designed to bring together job opportunities, career guidance and recruitment services in one place, with the aim of strengthening the Maldivian labour market and making employment services more accessible.
The portal was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan at a special ceremony.
Developed by the National Career Service (NCS) with funding provided through the World Bank-supported FIRST/SAILS Project, the platform is intended to create a centralised system that links job seekers, employers and career advisers while streamlining the recruitment process.
According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, the portal offers more than a conventional job search platform. Users can access personalised career guidance, connect directly with trained career counsellors and develop structured career plans based on their qualifications, experience and long-term goals.
The platform also enables users to create a comprehensive career profile by bringing together their educational background, professional training and work experience. This allows individuals to identify existing skills, track career progress and recognise areas where additional training or qualifications may be needed.
For employers, the portal is expected to simplify recruitment by matching vacancies with candidates whose skills and experience align with available positions. Job seekers will receive recommendations for suitable vacancies, while applications can be submitted through the platform, making the hiring process faster and more efficient.
The government said the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise employment services and improve workforce development in the Maldives through digital solutions.
The launch also supports President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to strengthen opportunities for Maldivians in the labour market under the “Maldives 2.0” initiative, which includes developing a skilled workforce and promoting a local-first employment policy aimed at increasing the participation of Maldivians in the national economy.
The National Career Service has been expanding career development programmes in recent years, offering employment assistance, career counselling and skills development initiatives to better prepare Maldivians for changing labour market demands. The My Career Portal is expected to serve as a key digital hub supporting those efforts.
