Moomina Hussain Fulhu, the mother of former Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, passed away this morning at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment at the ADK Hospital in Male’ City. Her death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from various quarters, including government officials and members of parliament.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his condolences through a post on X, offering heartfelt sympathies to the family of Former President Solih. He also extended prayers for strength during this difficult time.
Among those extending their sympathies were Ministers and Parliamentarians. Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef conveyed their condolences to President Solih’s family. Minister Shaheem announced that the funeral service for Moomina will be held at the Islamic Centre.

Moomina had returned to the Maldives from Sri Lanka during the early stages of her son Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s presidency. Apart from the former president, she is also the mother of former MP Ali Niyaz, Majeedhiya School Principal Aminath Solih, and Fathimath Solih.
