Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer is set to travel to Saudi Arabia to participate in the open-ended extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the ongoing situation in Palestine.
The meeting, scheduled for August 7, will focus on Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and actions against Iran’s sovereignty. This gathering, initiated at the request of Palestine and Iran, aims to discuss the recent escalation in violence, including the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.
In response to the assassination, the Maldivian government issued a statement condemning the act and urging the international community to uphold international law and work towards a lasting solution for the Gaza crisis. The government emphasized the need for peace and stability in the region.
Minister Zameer will depart for Saudi Arabia tonight to attend the one-day meeting in Jeddah, where he is expected to deliver a speech. The meeting will bring together Foreign Ministers from various countries to discuss the situation and formulate a collective response.
