Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched a new self-service banking ATM centre in K. Gaafaru, further extending its reach across the country and enhancing access to essential financial services. The newly established ATM centre provides 24/7 services, enabling individuals and businesses in the area to withdraw, deposit, and transfer money at their convenience.

This expansion marks another step in BML’s efforts to improve financial inclusion throughout the Maldives. Commenting on the opening, BML’s Deputy CEO and Acting In-charge, Aishath Noordeen, emphasized the importance of providing convenient banking solutions to local communities. “Our new Self-service Banking Centre in K. The opening of the ATM centre in K. Gaafaru aligns with the government’s broader goal of financial inclusion, a priority expressed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The Ministry of Economic Development highlighted this initiative in a recent tweet, stating, “As part of President Dr. Muizzu’s commitment to financial inclusion, a new ATM was commissioned today in K. Gaafaru, expanding the ATM network and improving the community’s access to banking services.”

BML’s continuous expansion reflects its dedication to serving Maldivians across all 20 atolls. Currently, the bank operates a nationwide network of 39 branches, 89 self-service banking centres, 144 ATMs, cash agent services, and offers a comprehensive range of digital banking services, supporting both individuals and businesses throughout the nation.

The construction of the ATM centre was carried out by STELCO, with Managing Director Ahmed Fahumy noting the significance of the project for the local community. In a statement, Fahumy said, “STELCO takes great pride in being part of this important project, which is set to provide substantial benefits to the K. Gaafaru community and its stakeholders, both now and in the future. This initiative highlights President Dr. Muizzu’s government’s dedication to fostering community development and promoting well-being.”

The introduction of this new facility is expected to significantly ease banking access for the residents of K. Gaafaru, offering a practical solution for their financial transactions and contributing to the community’s overall development.
