Fenaka Expands Water Supply Network to 21 Additional Islands

Fenaka Corporation Limited has expanded its water supply network to 21 more islands and introduced sewerage services to four additional islands over the past year, the state-owned utility company announced.

Recognizing the critical need for reliable utility services in the islands, Fenaka said it had made significant efforts to ensure uninterrupted services and broaden its coverage, despite facing financial challenges.

With the latest additions, Fenaka now provides water services to 107 islands across the Maldives, supporting over 31,092 water connections. The company’s freshwater production capacity has reached 10,661 tonnes per day. Notably, Fenaka increased its daily water production capacity by 564 tonnes across five islands last year to meet growing demand.

The company also connected 360 new households to its water network in 2024 and incorporated 22 islands into its upgraded billing system in September, aiming to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its services.

In addition to expanding its water network, Fenaka continues to provide sewerage services free of charge to 92 islands, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing living conditions in remote communities.

Fenaka’s ongoing efforts to strengthen essential services reflect its broader mission to support sustainable development and ensure access to clean water and proper sanitation across the Maldives. The company reaffirmed its dedication to improving its operations and addressing the infrastructure needs of island communities in the face of economic constraints.
