President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fulfilling the pledges made to the people of the Maldives, with a strong emphasis on addressing the specific needs of island communities. The President made these remarks during a meeting with the residents of Hoandehdhoo Island, where he outlined key initiatives and officially inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage system.

Speaking to the gathered community, President Muizzu highlighted that resolving the issue of beach erosion and swell wave surges in Hoandehdhoo will be prioritized in this year’s budget. He also stressed the government’s commitment to advancing the education and health sectors, promising the development of various sports facilities on the island to enhance community well-being.

The President underscored the administration’s goal to support local councils in generating revenue, pointing to inter-island tourism as a strategic avenue for increasing financial resources. He noted that boosting tourism between islands would foster economic resilience and create new opportunities for communities.

Addressing broader infrastructure concerns, President Muizzu pledged that housing and road development projects would be prioritized under this year’s Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP). He assured residents that the long-awaited Hoandehdhoo road development project will be completed within the year, aligning with his commitment to improve living conditions on the island.

During the event, a signing ceremony was also held to mark the establishment of a Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM on the island, further expanding essential financial services for residents.

President Muizzu concluded by reiterating his commitment to delivering on all promises made in the administration’s manifesto. “This government will leave no promise unfulfilled,” he assured, emphasizing that this year’s budget reflects a comprehensive approach to improving infrastructure, housing, and public services across the nation.

The President’s visit and announcements were met with optimism from Hoandehdhoo residents, who welcomed the initiatives as meaningful steps toward addressing long-standing challenges on the island.
