The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted an Information Forum on Tuesday to highlight investment opportunities in the Maldives to a visiting high-level delegation from Azerbaijan. The event aimed to strengthen economic ties and explore avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
The forum, held at Kurumba Maldives, follows discussions initiated during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Baku in November last year, where he attended the CoP29 summit. The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, included government officials and representatives from prominent Azerbaijani companies.
A key highlight of the delegation’s visit, the forum featured presentations by representatives from key Maldivian ministries and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The presentations covered sector-specific investment prospects, with a particular focus on renewable energy, environmental sustainability, housing, infrastructure, real estate, tourism, logistics, and aviation.
The event provided a platform to discuss untapped opportunities for economic collaboration and underscored the growing ties between the Maldives and Azerbaijan. The exchange aimed to pave the way for greater cooperation and mutual understanding in areas of shared interest.
Ambassador-at-Large Abdulla Hameed, who moderated the forum, expressed optimism about the outcomes, stating that the discussions would inspire new initiatives and foster long-term partnerships between the business communities of both nations.
The Azerbaijani delegation’s visit, scheduled from January 13 to 16, 2025, reflects the commitment of both countries to enhance bilateral relations and pursue economic growth through strategic partnerships.
