The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced that Brunei is offering scholarships for Maldivian students, providing opportunities to pursue diplomas, undergraduate degrees, and master’s degrees across various fields. The scholarships are available at five universities in Brunei under the Brunei Government Scholarship Programme.
These scholarships include comprehensive benefits, such as coverage of tuition fees, accommodation, and medical insurance. According to the Ministry, the eligibility criteria have been detailed in the official gazette, and applicants are permitted to apply for only one full-time programme. The selection process will be conducted entirely by the scholarship provider, ensuring an impartial assessment of all applications.
The Ministry has advised prospective candidates to verify that the programmes they intend to apply for and the respective universities are recognised by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA). This step is crucial to ensure that the qualifications earned under this scholarship are officially acknowledged in the Maldives.
Applications for the scholarships must be submitted by 1:00 pm on 15 February. The Ministry encourages interested students to review the guidelines carefully and prepare their applications promptly to meet the deadline. This opportunity marks a significant step for Maldivian students to gain international education and experience in Brunei.
