Maldives Strengthens Tourism Ties with India Through Star-Studded ‘Maldivian Night’ in Mumbai

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) hosted an exclusive tourism promotion event, ‘Maldivian Night,’ in Mumbai, drawing over 100 renowned Indian celebrities, influencers, and media personalities.

The high-profile gathering, held at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, was strategically timed to coincide with OTM Mumbai, India’s largest travel trade exhibition. This initiative underscores the Maldives’ commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian market, which remains one of the country’s most significant sources of tourists.

India has consistently ranked among the top source markets for Maldivian tourism. In a bid to attract over 300,000 Indian visitors in 2025, Visit Maldives has rolled out a series of strategic marketing campaigns, including an upcoming Summer Campaign, collaborations with leading Indian airlines, and partnerships with major tour operators.

The ‘Maldivian Night’ event featured an impressive lineup of Bollywood stars, digital influencers, and travel personalities. Among them were Farah Khan, Mouni Roy, Fardeen Khan, Vihaan Samat, Angad Bedi, Mandana Karimi, Shreya Pilgaonkar, and Shashank Sanghavi. Collectively, these influencers command a social media audience of over 200 million, providing Visit Maldives with a powerful platform to showcase the country’s luxury resorts, pristine beaches, and adventure offerings.

MMPRC revealed that many of these influencers are set to visit the Maldives in the coming months as part of an extensive promotional campaign. The initiative highlights the destination’s appeal to various traveler segments, including luxury seekers, honeymooners, families, and adventure enthusiasts.

“India is a vital market for Maldivian tourism, and we are thrilled to enhance our outreach through strategic collaborations with Indian influencers, airlines, and tour operators,” MMPRC’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shiuree, stated. “The ‘Maldivian Night’ in Mumbai was a testament to our commitment to this market, and we are confident our 2025 campaigns will deliver exceptional results.”

Despite a decline in Indian tourist arrivals compared to previous years, the Maldives marked a historic milestone in 2024 by welcoming over two million visitors. Building on this success, the government aims to surpass last year’s figures by at least 10% in 2025.

Through sustained engagement with Indian travelers and leveraging the influence of digital creators and Bollywood personalities, Visit Maldives remains focused on reinforcing the country’s position as a premier travel destination in the Indian subcontinent.
