Government Announces Goods Transport Schedule for Ramadan in Malé

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has announced the official transport schedule for goods in Malé during the upcoming month of Ramadan, setting designated time slots to ease congestion and improve traffic flow in the capital.

According to the schedule, from the first day of Ramadan until the 19th and for the first seven days of Shawwal, goods can be transported between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as well as 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. However, transport will be restricted from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For the last ten days of Ramadan, a revised schedule will be followed, allowing goods transport from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with restrictions remaining in place between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The Economic Ministry stated that these timings were finalized after discussions with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Maldives Police Service, aiming to ensure a balance between business operations and smooth traffic movement during the holy month.

Ramadan is traditionally a peak period for commercial activity in Malé, leading to increased transportation of goods and heavier road traffic. The new schedule is expected to help manage congestion effectively while accommodating the needs of businesses and the general public.
