BML Opens Applications for ‘Bank Fund’ to Support Grassroots Projects Across Maldives

Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened applications for its annual ‘Bank Fund,’ inviting registered NGOs, clubs, and associations across the Maldives to apply for funding for impactful community-based initiatives.

Launched last year, the Bank Fund is part of BML’s broader commitment to support sustainable community development. The initiative provides financial support to five selected projects focused on key areas such as education, environment, sports, and community development.

Each chosen project will receive MVR 200,000 (approximately USD 12,970) to bring their ideas to life. BML has stated that only NGOs and associations officially registered in the Maldives are eligible to submit proposals. The deadline to apply is Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Last year, the Bank Fund supported five community initiatives, including Muraka Farm, Children of Maldives, Dhiggaru Ekuveri Zuvaanunge Gulhun, Veymandoo Zuvaanunge Gulhun, and Unity Sports Academy — all of which focused on youth engagement, sustainable farming, and sports development.

In a statement, BML reaffirmed its ongoing dedication to community empowerment, noting that the Bank Fund complements its well-known Community Fund program, which supported 100 projects across the country between 2019 and 2023.

“Supporting local organisations that are making real change in their communities has always been a priority for us,” the bank noted.

Interested applicants can find more information about the Bank Fund and submission guidelines on the BML website.
