Youth Ministry Wraps Up Annual Camp with Focus on Leadership and Wellness

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art successfully concluded its annual Youth Camp on Friday, May 31, at Kudagiri Picnic Island, marking another milestone in its continued efforts to inspire and empower young Maldivians.

This year’s event, hosted as a day-long gathering, brought together 65 energetic participants for a series of engaging sessions designed to build leadership skills and personal development. The 2024 edition saw a significant increase in participation compared to last year’s camp at Farukolhufushi, which hosted 46 youth in collaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

According to a post shared by the Youth Ministry on social media platform X, the day began with an orientation session, followed by a series of interactive workshops. Topics ranged from team-building and assertiveness to self-confidence and leadership development—core themes aimed at equipping participants with tools for both personal and communal growth.

In addition to the skill-building sessions, the camp featured a special health awareness component focused on the risks of vaping—an issue of growing concern among the country’s youth. Participants also enjoyed recreational beach games and received certificates in recognition of their participation.

During the camp’s closing ceremony, Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Information Technology Ali Shamaan expressed his hope that attendees would take the lessons from the camp into their daily lives. “Our aim is to help cultivate confident, capable individuals who can make a positive impact in their communities,” he said.

The Youth Ministry has made these camps a recurring part of its youth engagement strategy, with each edition introducing new themes and experiences tailored to the evolving needs of young people across the Maldives.
