President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt appreciation to public servants across the Maldives, marking the occasion of United Nations Public Service Day by recognizing their vital role in national development and global progress.
In a message shared to commemorate the day, President Muizzu highlighted the indispensable contributions of public sector workers in advancing good governance and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that public servants are at the heart of institutional stability and public welfare, serving as the backbone of effective governance worldwide.
“As we celebrate UN Public Service Day, I join the global community in commemorating the significant contributions of public servants to the development of societies worldwide,” he stated, emphasizing the global importance of a strong and ethical civil service.
The President also paid tribute to Maldivian public institutions and civil servants for their unwavering dedication and continued service to the nation. He acknowledged their efforts as a driving force behind the Maldives’ development, progress, and social well-being.
United Nations Public Service Day, observed annually on June 23, aims to highlight the value and virtue of public service and encourage young people to pursue careers in the public sector. The day also serves to celebrate public sector excellence and innovation across the globe.
President Muizzu’s message echoes his administration’s broader commitment to civil service reform, institutional strengthening, and inclusive development guided by transparency, accountability, and the SDGs.
