The Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) has been awarded a USD 5 million contract to develop roads in Filladhoo, located in Haa Alifu Atoll.
The agreement was formalised on Sunday in a signing ceremony attended by State Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Hassan Rasheed, who signed on behalf of the government. RDC’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Nazeem, represented the corporation.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the project is scheduled to be completed within 730 days. It forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure across the country, with multiple development projects being rolled out in various islands.
In recent months, RDC has secured several other major assignments, including the Phase 3 road development project in Kulhudhuffushi City and road construction works in 11 islands across seven atolls.
Officials say the Filladhoo project will not only enhance local transport connectivity but also improve public safety and infrastructure resilience in the northern atoll.
