Over 1,200 Flat Agreements Signed Under Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme

The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited (FDC) has announced that more than 1,200 agreements have been signed under the government’s Gedhoruveriyaa social housing scheme, less than a month after the process officially began.

According to FDC, out of the 2,665 recipients whose names were forwarded by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure on July 21, a total of 1,202 agreements have been finalized to date. The corporation aims to complete the entire signing process within the next three months.

To streamline the process, recipients are required to upload the necessary documents via the “Fahi Portal” after being notified through SMS. Once verified, applicants are given time slots to complete their agreement signing at the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track, where FDC has established 10 service counters operating daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

FDC also noted that priority is being given to towers that are ready for occupancy, ensuring that families can begin moving into their homes as soon as possible.

The Gedhoruveriyaa housing project is currently the largest social housing initiative under development in the Malé region, consisting of 32 towers with both two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. The project is split between two contractors from India: Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL), which is building 16 towers named Amaan Udhares, and the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), responsible for another 16 towers branded Amaan Dhoadhi. Over 80 percent of construction on both sets of towers has already been completed.

With work nearing completion, government officials have indicated that the handover of units is expected to begin before the end of this month, paving the way for thousands of Maldivian families to move into their long-awaited homes.
