The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has announced the opening of a Book of Condolence in memory of the late Mohamed Umar Maniku, a pioneering figure in the country’s tourism sector.
The book will be available for signing at the MATI office in Malé from 7 to 14 September 2025, excluding Fridays. Visitors may pay their respects daily between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM at the 4th Floor, Fasmeeru Building, Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
MATI has extended the invitation to its members, government officials, industry colleagues, and the general public, providing an opportunity for all to honour Mr. Maniku’s legacy and share their tributes.
Often regarded as one of the architects of modern Maldivian tourism, Mr. Maniku’s contributions helped shape the industry into the country’s largest economic sector. His vision and leadership left an enduring mark on the nation’s global reputation as a premier travel destination.
The Book of Condolence is expected to draw wide participation, reflecting the deep respect and admiration held for Mr. Maniku across the Maldives.
