Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has held a high-level stakeholder briefing on preparations for the much-anticipated opening of Hanimaadhoo International Airport. The meeting took place on 5 October 2025 at the Hulhulé Island Hotel, bringing together key government agencies to review operational readiness.
The session was led by MACL’s CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, joined by Deputy Managing Director Mujthaba Latheef and senior members of the management team. Participants included Immigration Controller CP (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh, Commissioner General of Customs Fathimath Dhiyana, as well as representatives from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, Maldives Police Service, Maldives National Defence Force, Maldives Customs Service, and the Maldives National Air Traffic Service (MNETS).
Addressing the meeting, CEO Shareef confirmed that MACL will assume full responsibility for operating the Hanimaadhoo International Airport. He stressed that safety and security will remain top priorities as the company works to deliver seamless operations.
Shareef also emphasised the importance of collaboration with partner agencies to ensure a smooth transition as the airport moves closer to its opening date. “We value the input of all stakeholders and will continue to work closely with them to ensure every aspect of the airport’s operations meets the highest standards,” he said.
The briefing reflects MACL’s efforts to align all relevant authorities and stakeholders as the company prepares to launch operations at what is expected to be a key hub for the northern region of the Maldives.
