President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed four new members to the National Integrity Commission (NIC), filling vacancies that arose following the expiry of the terms of four sitting members, including the commission’s president, on October 26.
The new appointees are Shuaib Abdul Rahman, Shifaz Ali, Ali Mohamed Manik, and Fathimath Shareef. Their appointments were made on Sunday in line with the National Integrity Commission Act.
The NIC plays a key role in promoting accountability and integrity within the country’s law enforcement sector. The commission is tasked with monitoring the conduct and performance of law enforcement agencies and their officers, while also ensuring adherence to the laws and regulations governing their operations.
With the latest appointments, the five-member commission is now fully constituted and set to continue its oversight functions under the new leadership.
