Among his most significant legacies is Masjid Al Mohamed Ali, a landmark mosque he constructed in his home island. The mosque, completed over a period of four years with the support of his associates, was officially opened on 20 March 2025. Its architectural style—drawing inspiration from Oman, Uzbekistan, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Turkey—has made it one of the most admired mosques in the Maldives. Since its opening, it has become a popular place of worship and a point of pride for Eydhafushi residents and visitors alike.

Mohamed Ali had long expressed his wish to build a mosque for his island during his lifetime, a vision realised through the completion of the iconic structure that now stands as a testament to his faith, generosity and service to the community.

President Muizzu acknowledged Mohamed Ali’s extensive contributions, noting that his lifelong dedication to Eydhafushi—particularly in the areas of trade, transport, fisheries, social development and Islamic service—will be remembered with gratitude.
