The first group of students enrolled in the Hunaru Vehi vocational initiative has completed training, with 42 participants graduating from courses supported and facilitated by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
The programme, conducted by Huravee School under MACL’s SCR project, marks the first milestone in an effort to expand vocational learning opportunities for secondary students. The completed modules include National Certificate Level 3 programmes in Electrical Installation and Maintenance and Fashion Design and Tailoring.
Speaking at the certificate awarding ceremony, MACL Chief Commercial Officer Mohamed Mihad said the initiative equips young people with practical, employable skills that will support their future career paths. He noted that introducing vocational training at an earlier stage helps strengthen students’ skill sets alongside academic development.
Huravee School Principal Mohamed Haleem expressed appreciation for MACL’s involvement and support throughout the programme. He said access to practical, skills-based education plays a key role in broadening future opportunities for students and preparing them for real-world career environments.
As part of its contribution, MACL provided equipment, resources, and technical expertise to deliver the training. The company said its ongoing involvement in the programme reflects a strong commitment to supporting youth development and providing pathways for students from diverse backgrounds to pursue employment and professional growth.
With the successful completion of the first batch, the Hunaru Vehi programme is expected to expand further, offering more vocational streams as part of its long-term plan to strengthen skill-based education in the Maldives.
