Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem Appointed Chairperson of State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation

Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors at the State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation Limited, a newly established state-owned enterprise tasked with strengthening medical procurement and supply systems across the Maldives.

Haleem currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals and will now hold dual responsibilities in the health sector as the corporation begins its operational rollout.

The corporation was formally incorporated on 9 September under Section 15 of the Companies Act, following a presidential decree. It is fully owned by the government and is mandated to expand the national capacity to procure, import and distribute essential medicines, medical consumables and healthcare equipment.

The appointment follows earlier board designations made by the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB). Aishath Mohamed and Shibana Abdullah Didi were appointed as board members, while Dr Shah Mahir was named Managing Director of the corporation.

Officials say the establishment of the State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation marks a significant step toward improving efficiency, transparency and accessibility in the nation’s medical supply chain — a longstanding concern within the public health system.
