The award was presented during a graduation ceremony held Monday evening, with Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen jointly conferring the honour.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ihusaan described Imsha’s achievement as a “historic breakthrough” for the Maldives Police Service, highlighting its significance in strengthening female representation in the force.

“This is a proud moment not only for Imsha and her family, but for the entire nation. Her success represents the growing leadership of women within our police service,” the minister said, expressing gratitude to her parents and home island community for their support.

The ceremony also recognised outstanding performances by other female officers, underscoring a trend of increasing female excellence in police training. Awards were presented to Maryam Laasha Adam, Aiminath Samra, Maryam Lu’lu’a Mohamed, and Alya Ahmed, alongside Imsha.

Collectively, the achievements of the five women reflect a significant step forward in the Maldives Police Service’s efforts to promote diversity, gender inclusion, and equal opportunity within its ranks. Officials said the milestone signals the beginning of a new chapter in empowering women to take on leadership roles in frontline security and public service.
