According to the parties, the agreements clearly define roles, responsibilities and operational procedures for crisis response, with the aim of enhancing safety and security at Velana International Airport. The framework is expected to improve inter-agency communication, strengthen disaster management capabilities and support continuous improvements in operational efficiency during high-risk situations.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Commissioner Naveen said the agreements would further reinforce cooperation with MACL and help ensure the safety of all airport users. He noted that clear protocols and joint preparedness are essential for effective crisis response.

MACL CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed described VIA as a critical national facility and said readiness for emergencies depends on close collaboration among all relevant institutions. He added that the agreements mark an important step toward coordinated planning and swift, unified action when it matters most.

Officials from all three organisations said the new arrangements reflect a shared commitment to safeguarding passengers, staff and infrastructure, while strengthening the Maldives’ overall aviation security and resilience.
