The 33rd Steering Committee Meeting of the Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programme for South Asia (COSCAP-SA) has officially commenced, bringing together aviation regulators and industry representatives from across the region and beyond.
The meeting has drawn 40 participants representing seven member States, alongside delegates from leading international aviation bodies and manufacturers, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA), as well as aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing.
COSCAP-SA, an initiative supported by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is designed to strengthen aviation safety oversight across South Asia. The programme works closely with member States to harmonise aviation regulations, improve operational safety standards, and build technical expertise in areas such as airworthiness and regulatory compliance.
The steering committee meeting serves as a platform for member States and partners to review progress, address emerging safety challenges, and enhance regional collaboration in aviation oversight. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening regulatory frameworks and expanding technical capacity to meet evolving global aviation standards.
The event underscores continued regional commitment to aviation safety and international cooperation within the South Asian aviation sector.
