Maldives Sports Awards 2025 Honours 79 Athletes and Contributors

The Maldives Sports Awards 2025, widely regarded as the nation’s highest recognition platform for sporting excellence, was held this evening at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE), bringing together athletes, officials and sporting bodies from across the country.

President Mohamed Muizzu presented the most prestigious honours of the night, recognising outstanding achievements and contributions recorded during the 2024 sporting season.

A total of 79 individuals were acknowledged across 12 award categories at the ceremony, which was organised by the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

Among the evening’s highlights was the conferral of the Lifetime Achievement Award on Moosa Manik and Mohamed Nadeem, in recognition of their longstanding dedication and service to national sport.

The President also presented the titles of Sportswoman of the Year and Sportsman of the Year in both Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines, honouring top-performing athletes across a range of sporting fields.

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef presented several awards during the ceremony, while First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also took part in the award presentations.

The annual awards celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of sport in the Maldives. The government has identified the promotion of sport and athletic excellence as a national priority, with continued efforts aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and competitive performance.
