Maldivian Signs Healthcare Partnership with Trivandrum’s Ananthapuri Hospital

The Maldives’ national carrier Maldivian has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ananthapuri Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, India, in a move aimed at improving access to medical services for Maldivians travelling abroad for treatment.

The agreement is designed to make healthcare journeys more convenient for passengers travelling through Maldivian, while offering a range of benefits to support patients seeking medical care in India.

India has long been a key destination for Maldivians seeking specialised medical treatment, with Thiruvananthapuram — commonly known as Trivandrum — particularly popular due to its proximity to the Maldives and the availability of advanced healthcare facilities.

Officials say the partnership is expected to simplify the process for patients and their families by providing additional support and financial benefits when accessing services at Ananthapuri Hospital.

Under the agreement, Maldivian travellers will be eligible for several healthcare-related benefits. These include discounted rates for inpatient and outpatient treatment, a 15 percent reduction on health packages, and a 10 percent discount on laboratory and radiology services.

Patients arriving through Trivandrum International Airport will also have access to complimentary ambulance transportation to the hospital.

To further assist patients, Maldivian said a dedicated customer care desk will be established within the hospital to support travellers receiving treatment.

Additional services will include translation assistance, particularly aimed at elderly patients and those facing serious medical conditions who may require extra support during their stay.

Authorities noted that the partnership reflects ongoing efforts to make international healthcare access smoother and more patient-friendly for Maldivians.

Passengers seeking further details about the programme are encouraged to contact Maldivian Airlines or Ananthapuri Hospital directly.
