Investment Opportunities Spotlighted at Colombo Forum

The Maldives–Sri Lanka Business Forum was held in Colombo, bringing together investors and business leaders from both countries to explore new opportunities for trade and investment.

The forum, now in its tenth edition, was attended by President Mohamed Muizzu and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, alongside more than 300 participants representing the private sector and investment community.

During the event, attendees were presented with an overview of investment prospects across key industries in the Maldives, including tourism, fisheries, and agriculture. Officials also highlighted several major development initiatives, such as the Sustainable Township Investment Project, the Rasmalé development, and plans for port expansion in Thilafushi.

Organizers noted that the forum is part of broader efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, while also attracting foreign investment to support national development.

A similar business forum was previously held in the Maldives during the Sri Lankan President’s visit last year, reflecting continued engagement between the two countries.

The Maldives has also been hosting investment forums internationally in recent years, with events conducted in countries such as China, the United Arab Emirates, India, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, as part of its strategy to position the country as an attractive destination for global investors.
