MACL Issues Firm Denial Over False Claims by Raajje TV

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has issued an official statement strongly denying allegations made by Raajje TV suggesting that a company involved in organizing the upcoming opening ceremony of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport has ties to Israel.

The statement, released on July 7, 2025, categorically rejected what MACL described as “false and baseless” claims that circulated on social media platforms. The company emphasised that no contractor involved in the terminal ceremony has any connection to Israel.

MACL stated that it remains committed to conducting all business in full compliance with national laws and in alignment with the country’s foreign policy. The company also reiterated its dedication to transparency and professionalism in all public infrastructure projects.

“We categorically and unequivocally deny the false allegations made by Raajje TV,” MACL said in its statement, calling on media outlets to verify facts before publishing such sensitive accusations.

The opening ceremony of the new international terminal, scheduled to take place later this month, marks a major milestone in the government’s efforts to upgrade airport infrastructure and support the Maldives’ growing tourism sector.
